Volunteers are the heart & soul of East Wellington Community Services and volunteering is a great way to help the community, meet new people and learn new skills. We have volunteer opportunities for everyone! From high school students looking to complete their volunteer hours, to larger groups looking to volunteer together or individuals looking for a way to connect and give back to their community.

Volunteer Co-op Student Program

If you are a high school, college or university student looking for a co-op placement, please contact us. Opportunities are available year round in our many program areas!

Corporate Volunteering Program

Your company can benefit through our Corporate Volunteer Program! Group volunteering results in team building, job satisfaction and the knowledge that your company is making a difference in the community. We will provide recognition through social media following the event resulting in increased visibility in the community.  If your company is interested in volunteering, please contact our Volunteer Manager at 519-856-2113. Ongoing Opportunities

join our volunteer board of directors

EWCS is looking for candidates that have skills in areas of: fundraising, marketing, leadership, board governance, volunteer management and people with lived experience with a community service agency or who have a passion for making a positive impact within the East Wellington community. Board positions start in September of each year and require a commitment to serve a 3 year term.

front desk

Our reception desk in Erin is entirely staffed by volunteers who volunteer each weekday morning or afternoon. Front Desk Volunteers provide community information for agency clients and the public, assist with providing referrals to EWCS or other agency programs and services, direct phone and walk-in inquiries to the appropriate staff member and complete administrative tasks.

online book store

The online bookstore sells collector and specialized books. Volunteers check for online orders, package and ship books, communicate with customers, research and list books for sale.

food bank

Volunteers help carry and sort donations or pack hampers for clients. Volunteers are needed to pick up food donations in the community or assisting at a community food drive event!

adult day programs

Our Adult Day Program provides care and support for frail seniors and those with dementias. Volunteers assist the staff with aspects of the Day Program; including assisting with crafts, meals, activities, outings, etc.

special events

EWCS holds a variety of special events and fundraisers throughout the year. We need volunteers to be part of the organizing committees, assist at the events or by promoting the event in the community, selling tickets and more.

thrift stores

Our thrift stores are staffed entirely by volunteers. Volunteers maintain the stores as cashiers, donation sorters, creating window displays, organizing sale events and more! Join our store teams in Erin at our New to You or Bookends Book Store or in Rockwood at our New to You store.

organize a food drive

Support the food bank by getting your family, friends, co-workers, church, service club or sports team members together and collecting food items for our food bank. A list of most needed items can be found here. For more fun and exciting ideas for your next food drive, click here.

transportation

Volunteer drivers are needed to take adults 18 years of age and older to medical and other appointments within East Wellington and throughout the GTA, Hamilton, Orangeville, Georgetown and the Waterloo Wellington region.
