$148,600 OTF Grant from the Ontario Government Gives Community a Lift
Erin, ON – On Wednesday, local MPP Ted Arnott met with the team at East Wellington Community Services (EWCS) to hear more about the $148,600 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) that was used to purchase a wheelchair accessible bus. The project will provide accessible transportation for seniors with cognitive and physical disabilities to access programs and services in the Town of Erin and Township of Guelph Eramosa.
“This is great news,” said Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott. “I want to express our appreciation to the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Special thanks go out to the caring volunteers at East Wellington Community Services, who make such an amazing difference in our communities.”
First awarded in September 2023, the Capital grant funded the purchase of a wheelchair accessible bus to provide accessible transportation for seniors with cognitive and physical disabilities to and from EWCS’ Adult Day Program safely. The Adult Day program is designed to meet the physical, cognitive, social, medial and mental health needs of older adults in the community while offering respite for caregivers. The program offers a warm, welcoming place for older adults to socialize, engage in innovative and stimulating activities, and enjoy a nutritious daily meal and snacks.
“The transportation program of East Wellington Community Services is crucial for the members of the community to access programs, medical appointments, and more. With the purchase of a new bus, we can provide a safe, accessible, and reliable service, ensuring that our community members can reach their destinations,” said Kari Simpson, CEO of East Wellington Community Services.
